It appears that Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” music video follows the typical story of Taylor’s love life. She meets a new guy, warns him that she is crazy, he cheats on her/does something to upset, and she gets revenge on him. Once the guy learns his lesson, he drives off, terrified of Taylor, and new man pulls up pretty soon after. It is a continuous cycle. Her video is about meeting a guy, getting cheated on, and her tormenting him once she finds out. I think this because in the video she starts out in a happy relationship where her and her partner are riding bikes and being playful. Even though her relationship seems to be “good” at that point, she warns him that she can be crazy if she needs to be. The video fast forwards to a picnic that the two are having, and Taylor catches her boyfriend talking to another girl on his phone when is supposed to be spending time with her. A series of events then play out where Taylor is seeking revenge on him. She cuts his clothes, lights his stuff on fire, throws his phone into a pool, etc. He gets the memo and drives up, only to have a red car pull in with a similar looking guy. Her video is basically showing that there are consequences for your actions. When the guy was loyal and caring, she was nice to him. When he was caught by her, he was punished.
